The Last Days of Summer on Cape Cod

Last weekend I spent 24 hours on Cape Cod with my friend Karen. We went down to a family home in Eastham, and tooled around checking out gift shops and local eateries. We spent a lot of time driving by the iconic Cape dunes, but didn’t make it to the beach until we were about to leave.

We ended up spending our last hour on the Cape watching the sun rise higher and higher over the Atlantic. Grey seals bobbed close to shore, the beach was almost empty, and we were able to fully relax before getting in our car for the 2+ hour ride home. It seemed a fitting way to say goodbye to the summer.

Even the lifeguards were gone for the season!

After seeing this sign, I knew I wouldn’t be swimming!

(Sigh)

A perfect view for the end of summer.
