One of the MAJOR perks of traveling for business is staying in beautiful hotels without spending a dime. This past week, Jess and I were fortunate to stay at the luxurious Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spawhile I attended a series of meetings. I became intimately acquainted with the grounds and if it weren’t for Jess booking us a last-minute hop-on hop-off tour of the strip (thanks Jess!), I would have only experienced the GVR.
The GVR is about 15 minutes from the Las Vegas strip/airport in Henderson, NV. There are two towers of guest rooms, and Jess and I were fortunate to be in the West tower, which has a definitely Hollywood boudoir feel. The East tower is beautiful as well, but definitely feels more like an executive business hotel.
The resort features 8 restaurants – from upscale Italian to affordable sushi/sake to typical Vegas buffet – and of course, a casino and a pool (the latter is really impressive). We had a view of the pool from our room, and it’s what I imagine an upscale resort in Morocco or Greece would look like. While I wasn’t fortunate enough to spend any time at the pool, Jess was able to take a quick break from work and head to the pool for a little sun and relaxation.
I would definitely recommend a stay at the GVR if you’re heading to Vegas. While it is slightly less convenient than staying on the strip, the resort makes it easy to get to there (whether by cab or free-GVR shuttle). I was surprised to find out that the GVR is actually pretty affordable too. (A hotel of that quality in Boston or on the Cape would be 3-4 times as much per night). And the rooms, exceptional service, and food on-site make it a luxurious option without sticker shock.
